Port Augusta Aquatic Centre
Community Consultation
The Port Augusta Aquatic Centre building is reaching the end of its useful life and requires significant repairs and upgrades to remain operational. Council must consider whether continuing to invest in the aging facility represents the best use of public funds and community land.
Council at its meeting held on 09 June 2026, resolved to undertake a public consultation and community engagement process on the proposal to include the Port Augusta Aquatic Centre site, CT 5946/26, in the Parks Community Land Management Plan and remove it from the Business and Community Groups Community Land Management Plan.
Under Section 198(2) of the Local Government Act 1999, Council may only alter a Community Land Management Plan after public consultation and engagement if the proposed amendment has an impact on the community.
As changing this location from the “Business and Community Groups” Management Plan to the “Parks” Management Plan will have an impact on the community, a consultation period of 21 days will be undertaken in accordance with the Act and Council community engagement processes.
