Port Augusta Community Outreach
The Port Augusta Community Outreach is a response to improve safety and wellbeing for everyone in the community.
The outreach response has been codesigned with Aboriginal leaders and local community organisations. The coordinated effort will have a strong presence on the streets, parks and foreshore, along with other key areas of Port Augusta.
Teams wearing a visible logo and supported by interpreters and cultural leaders, visit the areas where people gather in efforts to reduce anti-social behaviour, stress and conflict.
About the response
The teams walk around, sitting and talking with people who are vulnerable due to alcohol or other conditions and help them to access the support they need. After hours, roving patrols will respond to calls, locate people who need help and take them to a safe place.
