1. Giant Christmas Tree Display

This festive season visit the GIANT Christmas Tree in the Barracks:

  • 10th & 11th December 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm
  • 14th – 18th December 10:00 am – 9:00 pm
  • 21st – 23rd December 10:00 am – 9:00 pm

While you are there, also see the “What Christmas means to me” school artwork display in the Yarta Purtli Art gallery.

Gladstone Square will also light up from December 3.
Take an evening walk through Gladstone Square to see the light display.

COVID-19 Social Distancing Rules apply.

Donations of Pet Food, Gifts, Books, Games for Adults and Children can be placed under the Tree. These will be given to charity organisations prior to Christmas.

Gold Coin Donation to Volunteer Clubs at the door.

2. Light Up and Shine

To help make Port Augusta extra special this Christmas, the Community are invited to “Light up and Shine”.

December 3 – December 25

  • Light up and/or decorate your front yard
  • Light up your business display windows
  • Use #lightupandshineptaugusta when sharing photos.

Council have put together a list of houses that have registered for Light Up and Shine.

3. Santa Claus is Coming to Port Augusta

Santa Claus will be visiting various locations across Port Augusta on the MFS truck, between December 3 – 8 (weather permitting).

In 2020 Santa will be followed by some special helpers.
Follow the “Santa Claus is Coming to Port Augusta” Facebook Page to see the streets Santa will be visiting and further information.

Why not “Light up and Shine” your house/driveway for his visit.

Supported by Port Augusta City Council, Rotary Port Augusta and Metropolitan Fire Service.

Christmas Picture Competition

Design an A4 sized picture of what Christmas in Port Augusta means to you. Pictures to be displayed in the Yarta Purtli Gallery from 14th December. Winners will receive $50 Voucher from Port Augusta SportsPower. One Winner from each division: Ages 4-8, 9-13 and 14-18.

Please ensure you include your contact details on the back of your entry and retun by 30th November 2020.

Giving Back This Christmas

This Christmas Port Augusta City Council will be providing six “Giving Trees” at the following locations from November 23 2020.

  • Civic Centre - 4 Mackay Street, Port Augusta
  • Public Library - 4 Mackay Street, Port Augusta
  • Central Oval - 10 Augusta Tce, Port Augusta
  • Wadlata Outback Centre - 41 Flinders Tce, Port Augusta
  • Cultural Centre/Yarta Purtli Art Gallery - 6 Beauchamp Ln, Port Augusta
  • Port Augusta Childcare Centre - 127 Stirling Road, Port Augusta

Community members are welcome to leave toys, games and gifts  (suitable for children and adults).

For our furry four legged friends, pet food can also be left.

All donations will be gifted to the Salvation Army to distribute  in Port Augusta over the Christmas period.

All donations will be accepted until December 14.

Additionally there will also be a Giant 5 Metre  Christmas Tree display in the Troopers Barracks near  Gladstone Square from December 10.
