Great Western Bridge Memories
In 2024, the difficult but necessary decision was made to demolish the bridge.
While its physical presence may be gone, the memories it created live on. As part of honouring the bridge’s legacy, Port Augusta City Council invited members of the community to share their stories, photos, and reflections for a commemorative memorial booklet. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all those who took the time to contribute—your memories have helped preserve the spirit of the Great Western Bridge and ensure that its role in our community’s history is not forgotten.
