Emergency Management
Emergency events can occur at any time with little or no warning. They rapidly spread and can cause diverse and widespread impacts across the community.
The Port Augusta City Council can help to minimise these threats and contribute to the safety and wellbeing of its community by participating in local emergency management alongside neighbouring regions. The Port Augusta City Council Emergency Management Framework forms part of Council’s commitment to emergency management planning and ensures that Council has a coordinated and planned management of emergencies.
For the purpose of emergency management, South Australia is divided into 11 Emergency Management Zones. Port Augusta City Council is part of the Far North Zone together with The Flinders Ranges Council, Roxby Downs Council, District Council of Coober Pedy, Outback Communities and the APY Lands.
After an emergency event State Government Recovery information and resources can be found at SA.GOV.AU.
Authority and the Key Hazards and Risks relevant to the Far North Zone have been assessed and summarised in the Far North - Key Hazards & Risks summary
