Community Wastewater Management Systems

Port Augusta City Council has Community Wastewater Management Systems that service 1564 properties (1460 residential and 104 non-residential).

The CWMS collects and treats wastewater from each connected property using a common network. Household liquid wastewater (effluent) passes through a septic tank on the property and into a connection point to the common network.

Under its licensing provisions with the Essential Services Commission of South Australia, Council has various regulatory reporting obligations and policy development requirements to ensure compliance with the provisions of the Water Industry Act 2012.
