Airport Terminal Upgrade

The new Port Augusta Airport Terminal was completed in late 2014 and provides seating for 68 people in air-conditioned comfort and also has access to new toilet facilities within the building. The facility provides for office space and baggage handling facilities. Covered areas around the building and at the entries providesgreater protection of passengers from the elements.

Along with the construction of the new terminal, the carpark was upgrading, along with an expansion of the apron to accommodate parking of additional planes.

The project cost $1,224,556 with $435,600 provided by the Commonwealth Government through the RDA Fund and $428,750 by the State Government through the Far North and Outback Enterprise Zone Fund and Council funding the remaining $360,206.

The airport is a major gateway for visitors to Port Augusta, and is also utilised by FIFO workers travelling to mines in Northern South Australia.
