Turn Trash into Treasure – Garage Sale Trail comes to Port Augusta this November
More than 50 garage sales are expected across Port Augusta, Stirling North, Miranda and Blanche Harbor this November, as locals join over 400,000 Australians taking part in this year’s Garage Sale Trail — one of the country’s biggest secondhand shopping events.
Held over two weekends (8–9 & 15–16 November), the event sees thousands of garage sales pop up in streets, schools, front yards and community spaces around the country. Locals can host their own sale or join a market, taking part on one day or across both weekends.
“Over two weekends, Garage Sale Trail lets locals sell from home or a shared location, keeping items out of landfill and stopping illegal dumping.” CEO John Banks stated.
“Giving your stuff a second life has never been this easy, fun, or rewarding. It’s a chance to meet your neighbours, share stories, and discover hidden treasures right on your doorstep.” Mayor Linley Shine stated.
Registration is free and includes access to downloadable signs, how-to guides and promotional tools – making it easy to take part.
Last year, the average seller made $499, proving that selling secondhand is as good for the wallet as it is for the planet.
Participation is free thanks to Port Augusta City Council, helping locals reduce waste and embrace the circular economy.
