Port Augusta City Council has been successful in receiving $111,839 from the Commonwealth Government’s Regional Airports Program Round 3 Grant program. Port Augusta City Council will match the grant amount to complete the project.

The project will include all weather surfacing of Taxiway Bravo – a secondary link between the apron and the runway – and replacing existing apron floodlighting with more efficient and brighter LED lighting. These works will help ensure the Regular Passenger Transport, Chartered, and the crucial operations of the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) are not compromised.

“The upgrade will increase the efficiency and function of the airport by providing a better alternative taxiway between the runway and the apron and improving the safety of the night-time operations at the airport. These funds will allow the Port Augusta Council to support air operations for the region, primarily the 24/7 operations of the Royal Flying Doctors stationed at the Port Augusta Airport.” Mayor Shine stated.

‘This project received grant funding from the Australian Government’
