A Win for Port Augusta City Council’s HR initiative

Port Augusta City Council was successful in receiving an award for Excellence in People and Culture at the South Australian Local Government Professionals 20th Annual Leadership Excellence Gala Awards, at the Adelaide Convention Centre on Friday 21st May.

Port Augusta City Council’s Human Resources Team, Media and Communications Officer, and IT Team were involved in the project.

Rolled out in 2020 Port Augusta City Council developed and launched a HR online program titled ‘My Success@PACC’ which aimed to improve employee’s commitment to Council, provided Career planning and aligned employee work plans to strategic goals.

The My Success @PACC Career Planning tools helps Council to:

  • Offer staff opportunities for professional career development to build capability and capacity in PACC but also in the wider regional workforce;
  • Provides a framework for all staff to have a stronger focus on purpose, outcomes and expectations, clarification of roles and fair recognition of individuals and teams in the success of their department;
  • Establish a culture of excellence and putting the right support in place to aim high and develop capability at work; and
  • Manage excess leave balances
