Port Augusta Tourism Development Strategy 2025- 2030

This strategy sets out Port Augusta’s long-term ambition for tourism development through to 2030, supported by clear focus areas, actions and performance measures. It outlines a vision for a tourism future that is community-led, environmentally conscious and economically sustainable. The strategy is structured around five key pillars that define where efforts will be prioritised over the next five years.

This strategy was shaped by the people of Port Augusta. Through community consultation, we listened to Traditional Owners, local businesses, artists, young people, tourism operators and residents. Across those voices, a clear message emerged: Grow tourism in a way that celebrates who we are, shares stories with care and respect, and support local livelihoods.

This strategy invites everyone to help shape Port Augusta’s tourism future. Whether you are a resident, business owner, Traditional Owner, visitor, or partner, your contribution matters. Together, we can build a tourism offering that reflects our values, improves our public spaces and supports inclusive growth. Together, we can transform Port Augusta from a transit hub into a meaningful destination — where visitors want to stay longer and connect more deeply with the destination.
