2025/26 Draft Annual Business Plan & Budget Community Consultation
Port Augusta City Council 2025/26 Draft Annual Business Plan & Budget Community Consultation
Port Augusta City Council has adopted its 2025/26 Draft Annual Business Plan and Budget, which proposes a 6.5% increase in general rate revenue compared to the 2024/25 budget.
The proposed increase is driven by several factors, including the rising cost of delivering essential services and maintaining infrastructure. This is reflected by the Consumer Price Index (CPI) increase of 2.5%, along with new budget submissions to support a range of community initiatives. The budget also aims to align with Council’s Long Term Financial Plan, with a continued focus on achieving financial sustainability by 2029/30.
The operating budget for 2025/26 includes a proposed deficit of $1,786,085. While this represents a short-term challenge, Council remains committed to sound financial management and investment in the city’s future.
The basis of rating will remain as Capital Value, with a fixed charge of $900, consistent with the 2024/25 financial year. Differential rate percentages will also remain unchanged.
Feedback from the community is very important – Having “Your Say” assists Council to understand the needs of the community.
