This Community Consultation has closed

The Port Augusta City Council has developed an Animal Management Plan 2022-2027 and is undertaking a Public Consultation and Engagement process to seek community endorsement for the adoption of the Plan.

Council has reviewed the 2017-2022 Plan and made necessary amendments to update the Plan for the next five years.

The draft plan aims to encourage responsible dog and cat ownership by;

  • reducing public and environmental nuisance caused by dogs and cats;
  • promoting the effective management of dogs and cats, whilst focusing on the need to educate the community in respect of the law relating to dogs and cats;
  • harnessing the benefits of dog and cat ownership; and
  • ensuring that the expenditure of registration fees addresses domestic animal issues.

A copy of the draft Animal Management Plan 2022-2027 and the Schedule of Dog Restrictions are available to view and download below.

Council is now seeking comments and questions from the community and stakeholders in relation to the draft Plan. An online feedback form is available for any comments and feedback.
