What: 8/12 Regiment, Royal Australian Artillery (8/12 Regt, RAA), and 7th Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment (7RAR), will conduct high explosive training that will result in increased noise and smoke within the training area.

When: 7.00am to 10.00pm Friday 18 May to Thursday 24 May 2018.

Where: Cultana Training Area, South Australia.

Background:
Residents living near the Cultana Training Area can expect to see activity on the range as units from the Australian Army’s 1st Brigade conduct live fire training between 7.00am and 10.00pm daily from 18-24 May 2018.

The training conducted by 8/12 Regiment, Royal Australian Artillery, and 7th Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment, is part of Exercise Predator's Walk 2018 and will involve the live firing of artillery and mortars.

Due to the high explosive nature of the ammunition used, residents can expect to hear increased noise and see smoke from the range during this period.

The exercise involving M777 Howitzers and 81mm Mortars is designed to enhance the skills of our soldiers, to ensure they are able to safely deliver accurate and rapid fire in the event it is required.

The results of this and other live fire exercise ensure the Australian Army is able to deliver the highest capability possible in defence of the nation and its interests.
