The General Inspector is responsible for supporting the provision of an effective and efficient regulatory service to the community in accordance with various Acts, Regulations, Council Policies and By-Laws. General Inspectors protect and promote a high standard of public safety and environmental quality within the Port Augusta City Council to maintain the safety, security and amenity of residents and the environment.

The successful applicant will possess:

  • Current South Australian driver’s licence of at least Class C
  • Developing knowledge of Dog and Cat Management Act, Regulations, relevant legislation and Council By-Laws
  • Ability to work with various animals – especially in relation to dog and cat control
  • Understanding of basic computing concepts, including data entry and word processing skills

Certificate 3 level or above in Local Government Regulatory Services, or Animal Control
