To ensure the health and well being of the community and to encourage community participation, ownership and involvement, ensuring the changing needs of our city's residents are reflected in our social programs and facilities.
The Port Augusta City Council provides many services that embrace the requirements of our aging population, family and child care needs. In recent years additional services that target youth, substance misuse, and crime prevention have been developed in partnership with other tiers of government.
In June, 2000 the Social Vision and Action Plan was completed for Port Augusta. It reviewed existing services and identified over 140 recommendations to improve social capital in the City. The Port Augusta City Council, in partnership with other Government and non-Government agencies are committed to the task of delivering these recommendations.
All of our activities aim to provide resources and assistance to all community groups and individuals, fostering cooperation, partnership and a united vision within our community.
