Category: Single Room with Private Ensuite

Maximum Refundable Accommodation Deposit: $280,000

Explanation of payment options

Residents can choose to pay for their accommodation by a refundable deposit, a daily payment, or a combination of both.

A refundable deposit is paid as a lump sum amount. A daily payment accrues daily and is paid periodically, for example monthly. A combination payment includes both a partial lump sum and daily payments.

For example, a refundable deposit of $280,000 would have an equivalent daily payment of:

Refundable deposit × MPIR = $280,000 × 5.70% = $43.73 per day
365 365

An example of a combination payment for a $280,000 price may be a refundable deposit of $180,000 and a daily payment of the remaining $100,000 of:

Refundable deposit × MPIR = $100,000 × 5.70% = $15.62 per day

The MPIR (Maximum Permissible Interest Rate) is calculated quarterly. All aged care providers are notified of the MPIR prior to the commencement of each quarter. The MPIR is also published on the Department of Health Website.
