Information for the Successful Collection of Your Rubbish

  • Please have your bins out by 6am on the day of collection
  • When placing your bins at the kerbside make sure there is 1 metre between your Household Waste Bin and your Recycling or Garden Organics Bin
  • Make sure the wheels of the bin are nearest your property
  • Do not place bins under trees that have overhanging branches
  • Do not overfill your bins. Overfull or excessively heavy bins may not be emptied

Red Household Waste Bin

Collected Weekly
140 litre bin for household waste
Maximum weight 75kg

What goes in the Waste bin?

This bin should only be used for general household waste that cannot be put in your yellow recycling or green organics bin. Examples include:

 Red Waste Bin
  • Nappies
  • Broken glass
  • Chip packets
  • Cling wrap
  • Video/audio tapes
  • Polystyrene foam
  • Batteries (not heavy metal batteries)
  • Lolly papers

Yellow Recycling Bin

Collected fortnightly on the same day as your household waste bin.  Please refer to the collection calendar.
240 litre bin for recyclables
Maximum weight 75kg

What goes in the recycling bin?
 Yellow Recycle Bin
  • Paper and cardboard - newspapers, magazines, catalogues, envelopes, egg cartons, cardboard boxes - any other paper
  • Cartons - Juice and milk cartons
  • Glass bottles and jars
  • Aluminium, empty steel and aerosol cans
  • All rigid plastic containers - plastic drink bottles, yoghurt containers, detergent bottles
Tips
  • Take lids off bottles
  • Rinse recyclables
  • Place all recyclables loose in the bin
  • DO NOT bundle newspapers
  • DO NOT put materials in plastic bags or bin liners
  • DO NOT put plastic bags in the bin - please return them to major supermarkets for recycling

Green Garden Organics Bin

Collected fortnightly on the same day as your household waste bin (alternate week to your recycling).  Please refer to the collection calendar.

Maximum weight 75kg

What goes in the garden organics bin?
Green Organics Bin 
  • Small prunings and cuttings
  • Small branches no bigger than 50mm diameter
  • Lawn clippings
  • Leaves
  • Weeds
  • Cut flowers
Tips
  • NO soil, rocks, stones or plastics
  • Food scraps can NOT be placed into the garden organics bin
  • NO animal waste

Items That Don't Belong In Any Bin

  • Building and construction waste (steel, concrete, bricks, timber and builder's rubble)
  • Automobile components (car tyres and car batteries)
  • Rocks and earth
  • Hot ashes

Hazardous waste should not be placed in any kerbside bin.  This includes:

  • Ammunition
  • Paint
  • Oil
  • Heavy metal batteries
  • Pharmaceuticals
  • Poisons
  • Pesticides
